What is your favorite quote and why?

Such a hard question! I love the Dr. Suess quote - “Sometimes you never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory.” It really shows the importance of living in the moment and taking advantage of every opportunity you are given. Malala Yousafzai’s “With guns you can kill terrorists, with education you can kill terrorism” is also very powerful. This shows the power of education and how it can truly change our world.

If you had a free day to spend any way you wanted to, what would you do?

If I had a free day I would travel somewhere new that I haven’t been to before. There’s so much to see and so many people to learn from in this world. I would love to spend my day engaging with people in a new culture developing innovative solutions to some of the real problems they experience in their world.

Which Sustainable Development Goal are you the most passionate about and why?

The sustainable development goal I'm most passionate about is access to education. I believe that education can change our world. Through education we can develop personally, locally and globally. When you're educated you discover what you are passionate about, and by engaging in the cycle of learning you contribute to economic development, innovation and our future. The social circumstance that allows a single power to wield so much influence over citizens is ignorance. With education we can develop valid opinions, open our eyes to new ideas, and engage in better conversations.

What inspires you to ACT for Global Change in your community?

I think what inspires me to ACT for Global Change in my community is my belief that everyone has a role to play in creating a sustainable future. Society has a duty and individually we all have the ability to make a meaningful contribution to this. I want to see a better world. I’ve always been taught that if you are fortunate enough then it’s very important to give back into your community and world.

What’s the best part of being a youth ambassador for ACT 4 Global Change?

I’m looking forward to expanding my network and learning from new people. As a youth ambassador my hope is to gain positive and enriching life long experiences; encourage youth and adults throughout my community to be a part of the change movement; and be a role model for the many youth that need me as they don’t have the opportunity to learn about social justice issues or how to act for change. I want to make a difference in this world, being there for people and helping people become aware of their values and the influence they have on their actions. I’m excited to show my community that we are strong alone but even stronger together The difference between altruism and egoism needs to be more widely recognized. I want to help people channel themselves to do more for others and work towards being altruistic. I’m excited to gain connections and memories while making a direct impact on this world and an indirect impact on people’s lives.
