1. The Global Goals
First, get educated on all of the different Global Goals for Sustainable Development. Don’t forget to check out the “Social Media Action” tab where you will find 8 pages of images, facts, and photos to start raising awareness about global issues through your social network.
2. UN – The Lazy Persons Guide to Saving the World
This resource is an easy way to find out how you can start acting like a global citizen right away! There are tons of ideas you can do right from home.
3. United Nations Sustainable Development Goals – Videos by Issue
Want to learn more about the issues of climate change, energy, education, oceans, inequality, hunger, peace and justice, biodiversity, desertification, and so much more? Check out these global goals videos about what is being done now to transform the world.
4. Oxfam Canada
Learn how to join a campaign to raise awareness to end inequality and violence against women. Join an Oxfam group that promotes women’s rights and the eradication of global poverty. Sign-up to volunteer at one of the many Oxfam events all over Canada. You can also organize or be part of a fundraising event such as Hunger4Change to raise money for food security programs.
5. Amnesty International
Get involved in the fight for human rights by becoming a youth activist on an issue you are passionate about, signing a petition, or by joining a group to raise awareness and money about pressing issues. You can also check out the local and international volunteer opportunities for human rights.
6. Canadian Red Cross
Learn about International Humanitarian Law and what the Canadian Red Cross is doing all over the world to help and protect vulnerable people.
7. Global Citizen
Get up to date on the latest news surrounding global issues and see who’s making an impact and how you can be a part of the change.
8. Free The Children
Explore global issues and find ideas for creative ways you and your school can get involved.
9. Because I am a Girl Campaign – I’ll Take it From Here (video)
A very insightful video on the challenges that many girls face when they experience gender inequality, and what the world would be like without it.
10. Calculate your Carbon Footprint
Climate change is a big issue and we can all do our part to help slow the process. Find out what your total carbon footprint is compared to the world average and how many “earths” would be required if everyone had your carbon footprint.

12. UNICEF – Unfairy Tales
This is a series of animated videos that tell the stories of millions of refugee children who have been forced out of their countries. The videos were made not only to help explain what they are going through, but to fight stigma and encourage positive perceptions of refugees.
